New to Sim Shalom? Here are answers to the questions people ask us most. If you don’t see yours here, just ask us. We’re always happy to help.
Joining us
How do I join a service?
All of our services are on Zoom. Go to our Join Us on Zoom page, click the link for the service you want, and you’re in. You can join from a computer, a tablet, or a phone.
Do I need to be Jewish?
Not at all. Jews by birth, Jews by choice, interfaith families, and curious friends of every background are welcome. You can take part as much or as little as you like.
Do I have to turn my camera on?
It’s up to you. Many people do, because seeing each other is how we become a community and not just an audience. But you’re welcome to listen in until you feel comfortable.
I don’t read Hebrew. Will I be lost?
No. Our prayer books appear right on the screen in Hebrew, English, and transliteration, so anyone can follow along and sing with us.
Does it cost anything?
Our weekly services are free, and there are no membership dues. We run on donations from our community, and we’re grateful for every one.

Come join us on Zoom
Reading about Jewish life is a good start, but it’s so much better with friends. At Sim Shalom we don’t just stream a service for you to watch. We meet on Zoom, we see each other’s faces, we sing and pray together, and we take time to catch up. Come a little early, say hello, and let us get to know you.
