RuthE (RuthEllen) was born in Orange County, California. RuthE entered the US Air Force in which she served for 12 years at duty stations around the world.
In 1982, RuthE was selected to be a Certified Jewish Lay Leader, and served in that
capacity throughout the rest of her Air Force career, having responsibility for Jewish activities at the
various bases and representing the Jewish personnel to the command staff.
In 2000, RuthE was recruited to be Director of Education at Temple Shir Shalom and then Temple
Kehillat Chaim, where she worked until 2003. She then moved to teaching Judaics at The Alfred and Adele Davis Academy for four years, where she taught 6 th and 7 th grade Judaic studies.
In 2007, an opportunity developed to start a Jewish book store, since Atlanta’s previous book dealer had
retired. RuthE began her Jewish book business, And Thou Shalt Read, in May of 2007. Since that time,
she has expanded and moved the business to Roswell, GA, where it is still operating.
RuthE has continued her community service, serving as lay rabbi to several senior citizen communities.
She has also served as “gabbai” at Temple Emanu-El since 2000. RuthE also ran for political office three times: 2006, 2008, and 2010, unfortunately, unsuccessfully! She remains actively involved in Georgia political life.
RuthE is married to David Lombrozo. Between them, the have five sons and 6 grandchildren and reside in Marietta, GA.
